A traditional country style pub in the heart of North London

Reviews

"Its hard to put your finger on why a place makes you feel relaxed but whatever the X factor is, the Daniel Defoe certainly has it. Share a bottle of lovely house red and either slump down in the chairs around the bar or sprawl out on the benches at the back. You might get the urge to slip off your shoes too..."

The Daniel Defoe has long been a public house in Stoke Newington. Steptoes, The Clarence and The Salmon and Trout are just some of the previous names of the pub dating back over many, many years.

The present name was decided upon back in July 1999 by the current proprietors Amanda Jones and Alan Honeyman who have run the pub since March 1995. Now managed since January 2007 by Eamonn Doran

The style of the pub has changed greatly over the years also, from a 'Spit and Sawdust' type to a 'Traditional Country style pub' in the heart of North London
